Blood Refining
A dark path where power is stolen from the living blood of others.
Blood Refining is a forbidden and terrifying technique within the Cradle universe that allows a cultivator to bypass traditional limits by consuming the life force of others. Unlike standard cultivation which draws energy from the environment or internal meditation, this method forcibly extracts blood essence from victims to accelerate one's own growth or heal grievous wounds instantly. It is widely regarded as an abomination by the righteous orders and is often associated with the most depraved villains who seek power without patience or morality.
Lore & Background
The practice is so reviled that mere suspicion of Blood Refining can lead to immediate execution by the Order of Saints or other righteous factions. Those who walk this path frequently suffer from mental degradation, as the violent emotions and fractured minds of their victims seep into their own consciousness over time. While it offers rapid ascension through realms, it is a cursed gift that often leads to a tragic end, either through retribution by heroes or total loss of self.
Reader's Guide
Blood Refining functions by treating human blood not merely as biological fluid, but as a concentrated vessel of spiritual energy and life force. To perform it, a cultivator must establish a direct physical or magical link with a victim, often through biting or specialized artifacts. Once the connection is established, the user's meridians act as a siphon, pulling the essence from the target. This allows for immediate restoration of health or a sudden jump in cultivation realm, bypassing the natural bottlenecks that limit normal progress. However, this stolen power is unstable and tainted by the victim's own karma. This technique is wielded almost exclusively by those who have abandoned all moral codes. It requires no patience but demands a heartless nature to suppress the psychic backlash of consuming another soul. Only the most ruthless villains or desperate outcasts resort to such methods, knowing they are marked for death by every hero in the world.
