Jet Black

Lore & Background

Jet Black's history is marked by a fall from grace within organized crime. Once a high-ranking cop embedded with the Red Dragon Syndicate, he discovered corruption that led to his exile and the loss of his left limb. This cybernetic replacement serves as a constant reminder of his failure to protect those he cared for during that era. He carries this weight silently, preferring action over exposition when discussing his history.

On the Bebop, Jet fulfills multiple roles beyond just captaincy. He is the cook who keeps everyone fed with hearty meals and the mechanic who ensures their vessel remains spaceworthy amidst constant wear. His relationship with Spike Spiegel is particularly complex; they share a bond forged in combat and mutual understanding of past regrets. While he pushes Spike to move forward, Jet himself struggles to leave his ghosts behind, creating a dynamic where two broken men support each other through silence and shared duty.
