Slice

Comics

Slice and Dice are a pair of ninjas who first appeared in the Marvel Comics G.I. Joe series. Their initial encounter with Cobra and G.I. Joe began when a figure known as the Red Ninja Master summoned them and several Red Ninjas to Cobra's Silent Castle in Trans-Carpathia. This Master demonstrated a thorough understanding of Arashikage fighting techniques, convincing the assembled ninjas of his identity. Because Cobra Commander had abandoned the castle for years, Slice, Dice, and the Red Ninjas entered without difficulty.

They were caught off guard when Destro and the Baroness arrived, as Cobra Commander had given the castle to Destro. When Slice, Dice, and the other ninjas attacked Destro, they realized the Joes, including the Ninja Force, had been monitoring the situation. Following an extended fight, the ninjas fled into the wilderness with the Ninja Force in pursuit.

After Snake Eyes defeated Slice in a duel meant to resolve their conflict, the Red Ninja Master appeared and revealed himself to be Firefly. The mercenary had deceived the ninjas. After a brief skirmish, he ambushed both ninja groups with his B.A.T.s and used gas to knock them unconscious. Firefly then employed Cobra's Brain-wave Scanner to brainwash Slice and the others into obedient slaves, and he moved them to Cobra Island, which Cobra had long since vacated.

The Ninja Force eventually broke free of the brainwashing, but Slice, Dice, and the Red Ninjas remained under Firefly's control for a period. A small Joe team landed on the island and fought the B.A.T.s and ninjas, ultimately breaking Firefly's hold. Slice and Dice escaped and later joined Cobra.

With much of Cobra's high command having abandoned the Commander, Slice and Dice worked closely with him for a time, participating in operations such as the fight against Joes in the Cobra-controlled town of Millville. During that mission, Scarlett infiltrated Cobra, but Slice and Zarana saw through the ruse. When Snake Eyes was forced to stab Scarlett to protect her cover, Slice recognized the wound was not meant to be lethal. Slice and Dice eventually left Cobra shortly before the organization was scattered by an attack from regular military forces.

Animated series

Slice first appeared in the DiC G.I. Joe episode "The Sword," voiced by Scott McNeil, alongside his partner Dice and the Night Creeper Leader. In that episode, the two ninjas are accidentally swapped in name, with Slice being called Dice and vice versa. Later, in the movie G.I. Joe: Valor vs. Venom, Slice returns with a new look and a different partner, a ninja named Slash, voiced by Kevan Ohtsji. These two are notably polite to each other in a humorous manner.

They are first shown capturing a G.I. Joe base but are briefly knocked out by Tunnel Rat. After capturing Tunnel Rat, they guard him as he awaits execution by a rain bomb, until Snake Eyes, Jinx, and Kamakura arrive and defeat them. The same pair also appears in the short film G.I. Joe: Ninja Battles, which shares continuity with Valor vs. Venom. There, they assist Storm Shadow in attacking the Joes alongside other Cobra ninjas, but are eventually driven off by Snake Eyes, Jinx, and Tiger Claw.
