Francisco Lindor
Puerto Rican shortstop drafted by Cleveland in 2011 who starred for the Indians from 2015 to 2020.
Francisco Miguel Lindor Serrano, born on November 14, 1993, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, goes by the nickname "Mr. Smile." He plays shortstop for the New York Mets in Major League Baseball, having previously suited up for the Cleveland Indians. The Indians picked him eighth overall in the 2011 draft, and by 2013, Baseball America considered him the top prospect in Cleveland’s system. In 2016, Lindor helped the Indians reach the World Series, earned his first All-Star nod, and won a Gold Glove—making him the first Puerto Rican shortstop to claim that award. He finished second in American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2015 and took home his first Silver Slugger in 2017. After the 2020 season, the Mets acquired him in a trade, and he later inked a 10-year, $341 million extension with the club.
