Background
Phoenix traded him to Cleveland on February 25, 1988, with Kevin Johnson, Mark West and Tyrone Corbin going the other way. Nance became Brad Daugherty's frontcourt partner on the strong Cavaliers teams of the late 1980s and early 1990s and made the All-Defensive First Team in 1989. A knee injury kept him out of most of 1993-94, and he retired in September 1994 at 35. He still holds the Cavaliers' single-game (11) and single-season (243) blocked-shot records; his son Larry Nance Jr. later played for Cleveland too.
