Angry Birds is a video game series and media franchise created by Finnish game designer Jaakko Iisalo and owned by Rovio Entertainment, a subsidiary of Sega. The franchise centers on a flock of anthropomorphic flightless birds that defend their eggs from a group of green, rotund pigs. Most Angry Birds video games are puzzle games developed by Rovio for mobile devices, though other studios have produced spinoffs in genres such as racing, role-playing, and tile-matching. The franchise also includes merchandise, theme parks, television series, and feature films.
The first game, simply titled *Angry Birds*, was released in 2009. Its success saved Rovio from bankruptcy and established the series as the company’s flagship property. A series of puzzle sequels followed, beginning with *Angry Birds Halloween* in 2010, which was later rebranded as *Angry Birds Seasons*. In 2011, a crossover with the film *Rio* produced *Angry Birds Rio*, which was reported as Rovio’s biggest launch at the time. Further crossovers included *Angry Birds Star Wars* in 2012 and *Angry Birds Transformers* in 2014. The first spinoff, *Bad Piggies*, which stars the pigs, was released in 2012.
The first media adaptation, the television series *Angry Birds Toons*, premiered in 2013. Two other animated series—*Piggy Tales* and *Angry Birds Stella*—followed in 2014. A direct sequel, *Angry Birds 2*, was released in 2015. The first theatrical film, *The Angry Birds Movie*, came out in 2016, with a sequel in 2019. A third film is scheduled for 2026. In 2019, several early games were delisted from app stores because Rovio could not update them to modern standards, prompting a remake, *Rovio Classics: Angry Birds*, in 2022. That remake was later delisted from Google Play and renamed *Red’s First Flight* on iOS due to its negative impact on other games’ search rankings. In 2023, Sega completed its acquisition of Rovio. A crossover event with Sega’s *Sonic the Hedgehog* franchise occurred in 2024, and Angry Birds characters have appeared in other Sega games such as *Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble* and *Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds*.

Angry Birds Reloaded is the nineteenth game in the Angry Birds franchise, developed by Finnish video game developer Rovio Entertainment. It was released exclusively for the Apple Arcade subscription service on July 16, 2021. The game is inspired by the classic Angry Birds slingshot games, adding new graphics as well as characters and settings from previous Angry Birds media.
