Thirumittacode inscription

Rare Chola inscription from Kerala recording a gold gift.

The Thirumittacode inscription (c. 1028 AD) is an early 11th century Chola record from Thirumittacode, near Pattambi in central Kerala. Engraved in Vattezhuthu script with Grantha characters on a granite block in the temple door frame, it is one of the rare Chola epigraphs found in Kerala proper. Dated in the 8th regnal year of Chera king Ravi Goda, it records a gold gift by Chekkizhan Shakthinjayan, a Chola Mutharaiyan acting on orders of emperor Rajendra Chola.
