Who Rules the World (TV series)

Who Rules the World (Chinese: 且试天下; pinyin: Qiě Shì Tiānxià) is a 2022 Chinese streaming television series starring Yang Yang and Zhao Lusi. It adapts the wuxia romance novel *Let's Try The World* by Qing Lengyue and follows the adventurous love story of Hei Fengxi and Bai Fengxi. The show aired on Tencent Video and WeTV from April 18 to May 17, 2022, spanning 40 episodes, and is also available on Netflix.

The story centers on Hei Fengxi, a chivalrous and elegant figure, and Bai Fengxi, who is majestic and unrestrained. Despite their opposing personalities, they are equally unmatched in talent and intellect. Set against the warfare and chaos of the martial arts and political worlds, their romance blossoms amid a decade of bloodshed. Both characters work to conceal their identities while navigating political unrest, betrayal, infighting, and the ultimate struggle for the imperial throne.

The main cast includes Yang Yang as Hei Fengxi / Feng Lanxi (with Liu Yiran playing the younger version), head of Fountain Abode and second prince of Yongzhou, and Zhao Lusi as Bai Fengxi / Feng Xiyun (with Zhang Xiwei as the younger version), a disciple of Tian Shuang Sect and princess of Qingzhou. Supporting characters span the realms of Yongzhou, Qingzhou, Jizhou, Da Dong, Youzhou, and Shangzhou, including royalty, retainers, generals, and advisors.

Filming began at Hengdian World Studios with an opening ceremony on February 3, 2021, attended by Zhao Lusi but not Yang Yang, who joined later on February 23. The full cast lineup and final posters were released on the show’s official Weibo on April 8, 2021, and production wrapped on June 17, 2021.

The series surpassed 1 billion views on Tencent Video within eleven days of its release. Its soundtrack, *Who Rules the World OST*, includes five tracks by various artists and 20 background scores composed by Dong Dongdong. Internationally, the show was broadcast in Hong Kong on September 1, 2022, via RHTK 31 to mark the 25th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. On July 24, 2022, it ranked fourth on Netflix Korea’s Top 10 Most Viewed Series, the only foreign show on that list.
