Lost Love in Times (醉玲珑) is a 2017 Chinese television drama adapted from Shi Siye’s novel *Drunk Linglong*. The lead roles are played by Cecilia Liu and William Chan. It originally aired on Dragon TV in two-episode blocks every Thursday and Friday at 10:00 p.m. (CST) from July 13 to September 29, 2017. Beginning September 6, 2017, it also took over the Wednesday 10:00 p.m. slot previously held by *The Jin Xing Show*, while keeping its original Thursday and Friday times.
The story follows Qingchen (Cecilia Liu), a sorceress from the Mages—a group of Wu shamans who protect the royal family—and Yuan Ling (William Chan), the fourth prince of Great Wei. They are fated by the dual stars to fall in love at first sight, but their bond brings disaster. As the Great Sorceress, Qingchen cannot marry into royalty, so she initially resists her feelings for the sake of the kingdom, though she eventually gives in. When Yuan Ling becomes emperor, he decides to marry her despite opposition from both the court and the Mages. On their wedding day, the seventh prince Yuan Zhan, who covets the throne, stages a coup. To prevent the bloodshed, Qingchen uses the Sacred Pebbles of Nine Transformations to create a new timeline. The pebbles send her back one year before the coup, but into a parallel world where no one knows her and everyone has different histories—most notably Yuan Zhan. Armed with knowledge of the dual stars and the coming calamity, she now works to stop Yuan Ling from falling for her, so he can fulfill his destiny as Great Wei’s greatest emperor.
The main cast includes Cecilia Liu as Qingchen, a sorceress from the Meandering Skies with extraordinary healing skills. Beneath her gentle, weak appearance lies a calculating mind. In the first universe, her relationship with Yuan Ling leads to disaster; in the second, she tries to push him away but eventually gives in to her feelings. William Chan plays Yuan Ling, the fourth prince and son of the deceased Emperor Renzong. Known as the God of War, he commands the powerful Xuanjia army. He falls for Qingchen and vows to protect her. Though she pushes him away, he continues to pursue her.
Supporting characters from the Great Wei royal family include Xu Haiqiao as Yuan Zhan, the seventh prince.
