Lost City in Snow Heaven (Xue Yu Mi Cheng) is a 2004 Chinese fantasy-action television series. It was directed by Lai Shui-ching, Yu Ming-sang, and Yang Zhiqian, with Vincent Zhao and Chen Xi (also known as Chen Xiuyu) in the lead roles. The story begins eighteen years before the main events, during the final clash of an age of witchcraft and sorcery. The Emperor leads his army against the Hanhai tribe in the desert, aiming to clear a path for conquering the southern lands. To stop the invasion, Yeyue, the Hanhai head priestess, is forced to use the Dark Chalice’s power to summon the spirits of dead Hanhai soldiers. She succeeds but loses control of the Chalice. The Emperor then breaks into the shrine where the Chalice is kept and has a vision of his younger brother, Chongguang, rebelling and seizing the empire. Yeyue, meanwhile, sees that the Emperor’s wife will give birth to a baby girl. The Empress orders her close aide Yang An to take the infant princess, Leng Yun, to Snow City to protect her from Chongguang’s pursuit. As Leng Yun grows up, she discovers she has magical healing powers, granted by her ability to call upon butterfly-pixies.
