Theonistus

Catholic saint and cephalophore, martyred with Tabra and Tabratha.

Theonistus (also known as Theonist, Teonesto, Thaumastus, Thaumastos, Theonestus, Thonistus, Onistus, Teonisto, or Tonisto) is a saint venerated by the Catholic Church, often grouped with two companions, Tabra and Tabratha. His legend is confused and contradictory, with medieval accounts presenting him as a bishop of either Namsia or Namsis (10th century) or of Philippi (11th century). He and his companions were martyred by beheading at Roncade or Altino and were said to have been cephalophores.
