Kolibri Games was founded in 2016 as Fluffy Fairy Games in a student apartment without any external financing. The company released its first game, Idle Miner Tycoon, in July 2016 after eight weeks of development. In January 2018, the company moved to Berlin, and in April 2018 it released Idle Factory Tycoon on iOS and Android, which has since been downloaded over 10 million times. The company changed its name from Fluffy Fairy Games to Kolibri Games in October 2018.
