Gettleman was hired as the Panthers' general manager in January 2013. During his tenure, the team compiled a regular-season record of 40-23-1, made the playoffs three times, and won three NFC South division titles. In the 2015 season, the Panthers started 14-0 before falling to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 16. They defeated the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals in the playoffs, en route to Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016, where they lost to the Denver Broncos 24-10. On July 17, 2017, the Panthers relieved Gettleman of his duties as general manager.
