The Carolina Hurricanes are a professional ice hockey team based in Raleigh, North Carolina, and are the region's only team among the four major professional sports leagues. They relocated to the Research Triangle region from Hartford, Connecticut, and have enjoyed great success, including winning the Stanley Cup championship in 2006.
