Wimzie's House

Wimzie's House is a Canadian children's television series produced in Montreal that originally aired in French as La Maison de Ouimzie in 1995 and later in English on CBC Television and PBS. Characters

Wimzie, the protagonist, is a five-year-old dragon/bird hybrid with yellow-orange fur, purple hair in pigtails with baby blue bows, and red wing-like antlers. She is performed by Brigitte Brideau and voiced by Sonja Ball. Her father Rousso, performed by Michel P. Ranger and voiced by Tyrone Benskin, is a calm, tailless orange dragon with blonde hair who works as a firefighter. Graziella, Wimzie's mother, is a bird- or platypus-like monster with pink featherless fur and a beehive hairdo; she works as a pilot and is performed by Michel Ledoux (assisted by Helen Evans) and voiced by Jennifer Seguin. Bo, Wimzie's baby brother, is a full tailless dragon around 12–18 months old, performed by Lucie Beauvais and voiced by Liz MacRae; he communicates mostly in gibberish and receives much attention from Yaya. The series also includes Wimzie's friends Jonas, Loulou, and Horace.

Controversies

In 1999, The Jim Henson Company sued CINAR, claiming the show's puppets and related products infringed on Muppets copyrights and trademarks. CINAR and its partners denied any fault. A private settlement let CINAR keep airing the series and selling merchandise, and set up a way to maintain the distinctive Muppet look in future CINAR projects.

Repeats aired on the Cookie Jar Toons block on This TV, the Cookie Jar Kids Network, and Light TV (now TheGrio.TV) from December 22, 2016 to September 30, 2019. Treehouse TV aired repeats from 1999 until December 2005. Five VHS tapes were released by Sony Wonder between 1999 and 2000.
