Plot
Tara and Dawn woke up together on the couch, realizing that both Buffy and Willow had been gone all night. Buffy came to consciousness naked beside Spike, with the building around them collapsed and memories of what they had done flooding back. As Buffy tried to leave, Spike taunted her by recounting their activities from the previous evening. Disgusted with herself, Buffy threatened to kill Spike if he ever revealed their encounter, then walked out.
Amy brought Willow home and loudly praised Willow’s magical abilities in front of Tara and Dawn. Tara left the room just as Buffy arrived. After a brief conversation, Amy departed, and Buffy and Willow went to bed, exhausted from their separate nights. Willow attempted to close her bedroom curtains with magic but was too drained to succeed.
Anya was reading bridal magazines instead of researching the freezing demon. Xander grew annoyed because every research book he opened contained a bridal magazine. At the magic shop, Xander, Anya, and Buffy talked about Willow’s strange behavior, with Buffy defending her friend. Amy suggested that she and Willow visit a warlock named Rack, who could provide powerful spells without any recovery period.
Rack’s house was hidden and filled with people addicted to magic, all seeking their next fix. Rack took a mental tour of Willow’s mind before giving her what she wanted. Amy spun wildly around the room while Willow hung from the ceiling, seeing spots and bizarre images. The next morning, Willow woke up in her own room and cried in the shower.
She used magic to shape some of Tara’s clothes into an invisible body and curled up against it. When Buffy came home and caught Amy stealing some of Willow’s magical supplies, she scolded her. Amy, acting obsessively about the supplies, told Buffy where Willow had gone. Willow and Dawn talked about food and Tara, then made a detour to Rack’s place so Willow could get another fix.
Dawn waited impatiently in the waiting room with a strange man. Meanwhile, Willow floated in Rack’s room, saw herself flying through space, and screamed when a demon holding a limp body appeared.
