Plot

While assisting Buffy in protecting a couple from two muggers, Spike brings up their earlier kisses. Buffy avoids the topic, and Spike accuses her of still denying her attraction to him. In a humorous nod to a Mission: Impossible-style heist, Warren, Jonathan, and Andrew use a freeze-ray to immobilize a museum guard and steal a large diamond. When Buffy arrives, Spike presses her again about the kiss.

She explains she was stressed by Giles’s departure and apologizes for giving him false hope. Spike pushes further, and Buffy punches him. He hits back and realizes his chip does not cause him pain when striking her. After Warren confirms the chip still works on humans, Spike claims Buffy “came back wrong” with a “little demon” inside.

Enraged, Buffy attacks him, and they fight until she gives in to her desire and kisses him. Their passionate encounter is so intense that the abandoned house collapses around them.

Meanwhile, Willow, missing Tara, successfully transforms Amy from a rat back into a human. Feeling free, they head to The Bronze. When some guys try to intimidate them, they cast a playful spell on them, but soon escalate to more elaborate magic, filling the club with oddly dressed people, sheep, and other bizarre mutations. Willow enjoys exploring her growing power. Elsewhere, Tara comforts a sad Dawn, reassuring her that she is not to blame for Tara moving out or the breakup with Willow. Tara admits she still loves Willow but worries about her magic use and is unsure about their future. She reluctantly agrees to a sleepover to keep Dawn company.
