A naturalist rescues extinct species through a time portal.
Prehistoric Park is a six-part nature documentary television series that premiered on ITV on 22 July 2006 and on Animal Planet on 29 October 2006. Produced by Impossible Pictures, the creators of Walking with Dinosaurs, it was narrated by David Jason and presented by Nigel Marven. The series blends documentary style with a fictional premise: Marven travels through a space-time portal to bring extinct animals back to the present day for exhibition in a wildlife park.

Characters
Nigel Marven appears as himself, serving as the main presenter and host. Rod Arthur plays Bob, the long-suffering head keeper responsible for feeding, cleaning and controlling the park's animals. Suzanne McNabb portrays herself as the head veterinarian, treating sick or injured animals. Morgan Williams plays Ben, a crew member introduced in episode 3 who is attacked by a Mei long for meat in his backpack. Saba Douglas-Hamilton appears as herself, a big cat specialist invited by Nigel to help catch Smilodon in episode 4.
Locations within the park
Enclosures are named after the animals they house. Mammoth Mount holds the woolly mammoth Martha. T-Rex Hill is home to the Tyrannosaurus rex pair Terence and Matilda. Big Cat Climb features a pair of breeding Smilodons. Deinosuchus Dip is a large lake for the park's Deinosuchus. Ornithomimus Pond contains a flock of Ornithomimus. The Bug House maintains double the current oxygen levels to sustain Carboniferous period creatures including Arthropleura, Meganeura and Pulmonoscorpius.
