Any Human Heart (TV series)
British drama serial based on William Boyd's novel.
Adapted from William Boyd's 2002 novel, *Any Human Heart* is a British drama serial that aired on Channel 4 in four hour-long episodes from 21 November to 12 December 2010. The project was first announced in April of that year. For US audiences, PBS broadcast a re-edited version as three 90-minute installments on 13, 20, and 27 February 2011. The serial won the BAFTA for Best Drama Serial at the 2011 British Academy Television Awards. A DVD release followed on 27 December 2010 in the UK, and on 5 April 2011 in the US (Region 1).
The cast includes Jim Broadbent, Matthew Macfadyen, Sam Claflin, and Conor Nealon as Logan Mountstuart at different ages; Hayley Atwell as Freya Deverell; Ed Stoppard as an older Ben Leeping; Samuel West as an older Peter Scabius; Gillian Anderson as Wallis, Duchess of Windsor; Tom Hollander as Edward, Duke of Windsor; Kim Cattrall as Gloria Scabius; Holliday Grainger as Tess Scabius; Tobias Menzies as Ian Fleming; Charity Wakefield as Land Fothergill; Emerald Fennell as Lottie; Stanley Weber as a Swiss Detective; Valerie Kaprisky as Gabrielle Dupetit; Theo Cross as Nat Tate; Tim Flavin as Schmidt; Oscar Foronda as Faustino Angel; Lucinda Raikes as Miss Warburton; Julian Ovenden as Ernest Hemingway; and Lydia Wilson as Monday.
The original score was composed by Dan Jones, performed by the Chamber Orchestra of London, Roger Huckle, and John Parricelli. In 2011, the music won a BAFTA for Best Original Television Music and the Ivor Novello Award for Best Television Soundtrack, and received Emmy nominations for Best Original Dramatic Score and Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music. The soundtrack was released by Wave Theory Records in February 2017.
