Characters
Students at Cackle's Academy include Henrietta "Hettie" Hubble, the protagonist who often gets into trouble due to her scheming, similar to her older cousin Mildred. She is best friends with Mona Hallow and Crescentmoon "Cressie" Winterchild, and sort-of friends with Dyllis Mustardseed and Roseanne Speedwell. Hettie is enemies with Belladonna Bindweed and Cynthia Horrocks, and does not usually get along with the teachers, particularly Miss Hardbroom. Mona Hallow is Hettie's best friend and the cleverest in the year, acting as the scientist of the group who helps Hettie out of trouble. Mona is friends with Hettie and Cressie, and enemies with Belladonna and especially Cynthia. Crescentmoon "Cressie" Winterchild is a Hedge Witch who follows their traditions and rituals, and is also discovered to be a Time Witch able to manipulate time. Cressie is best friends with Mona and Hettie, and enemies with Belladonna and Cynthia. Belladonna Bindweed is stuck-up, rude and unkind toward Hettie, Mona, and Cressie; in Season One she is liked by the teachers despite her behavior. Her sidekick Cynthia Horrocks follows her and dislikes Hettie and Cressie, but takes an even bigger dislike toward Mona due to Mona's father shutting down the factory where Cynthia's father works. Dyllis Mustardseed is the least popular student in the class and often seeks friendship from Hettie, Mona, Cressie, or even Belladonna. Roseanne Speedwell is a clumsy student and a cheerleader. Teachers include returning staff Miss Hardbroom and Miss Cackle, joined by new members Caspian Bloom, Miss Swoop, and Miss Widget/Miss Nightingale.
