Its goal is to create the world's greatest egotistical striker following Japan's 16th-place finish in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Yoichi Isagi joins this program, competing against 299 other players to become the best striker in the world.

The title of World's Greatest Striker is the ultimate goal of the Blue Lock project. To achieve it, participants must attempt to qualify for the Japan national team through a program designed to develop an egotistical style of play. Failure in this regimen results in permanent disqualification from representing Japan.
