Blackpink’s discography includes two studio albums, four extended plays, one reissue, one compilation album, four live albums, five single albums, fifteen singles, and five promotional singles. The group kicked things off with their debut single album *Square One* on August 8, 2016, featuring the tracks “Whistle” and “Boombayah.” “Whistle” hit number one on the Gaon Digital Chart and sold over 2.5 million digital copies in South Korea, while “Boombayah” became their first song to top the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart. Their follow-up single album *Square Two* arrived on November 1, peaking at number 13 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart and number two on the World Albums chart. It included “Playing with Fire,” which reached number three on the Gaon Digital Chart and also sold more than 2.5 million digital copies in South Korea.
On June 22, 2017, Blackpink released the single “As If It’s Your Last,” which peaked at number three and achieved 2.5 million certified downloads in South Korea. They made their Japanese debut on August 30 with the EP *Blackpink*, which featured Japanese-language versions of their earlier songs. That EP topped the Oricon Albums Chart and sold over 80,000 copies in Japan. Their first Korean EP, *Square Up*, came out on June 15, 2018, debuting at number one on the Gaon Album Chart and earning a 2× platinum certification for 500,000 copies sold. It entered the US Billboard 200 at number 40, making it the highest-charting album by a female Korean act at the time. The EP’s lead single “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” hit number one on the Gaon Digital Chart and was certified 2× platinum for streaming and platinum for downloads in South Korea. It also became the group’s first song to enter the Billboard Hot 100, landing at number 55, and made them the highest-charting female Korean act on that chart, later earning a gold certification in the US.
On October 19, 2018, Blackpink teamed up with British singer Dua Lipa for “Kiss and Make Up,” which found commercial success worldwide. The Japanese compilation album *Blackpink in Your Area* followed on November 23, containing Japanese versions of all their tracks. Their second Korean EP, *Kill This Love*, dropped on April 5, 2019, and was certified 2× platinum for 500,000 copies sold.
