The Soles de Mexicali, also known as the Mexicali Suns, are a professional basketball team from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. They compete in the Northern Division of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP). Founded in 2005, the franchise quickly became one of the country’s most successful, winning its first national championship just two years later, in the 2006–2007 season, concluding in 2007, against the Halcones de Xalapa. The team plays its home games at the Auditorio del Estado, which is currently being remodeled to reflect its recent title victories.
On the international stage, the Soles have represented Mexico in events such as the Harlem Week Basketball tournament in the Netherlands. They also participated in the inaugural FIBA Americas League, which began in 2007–2008, with the final held in Mexicali on February 9, 2008. During the 2008–2009 season, the Soles defeated Lobos Universidad de Coahuila to reach the Final Eight. They then beat Dorados de Chihuahua in six games to advance to the Zona Norte Finals (Final Four). On February 23, 2009, they were scheduled to face Tecos de U.A. de G. in a best-of-seven series for the Zona Norte title.
