Under the Valmiera Ordo banner, the club navigated a chaotic campaign marked by three different head coaches, significant injuries—including second captain Haralds Kārlis tearing his ACL in December—and roster turnover that saw Lithuanian guard Vytenis Čižauskas depart over limited playing time. Yet from that turbulence emerged a 30-6 regular season record and the top seed in the Latvian Basketball League playoffs. The championship finals against four-time champions VEF Rīga stretched to a full seven games. After dropping Game 1 at home 59-70, Valmiera clawed back to take Games 2, 3, and 5, only for Rīga to force a Game 6. The series concluded on March 31 in a sold-out home arena, where Valmiera closed out a 79-70 victory to claim its first and only national title. Artūrs Bērziņš earned Finals MVP honors, averaging 9.8 points and 4.1 rebounds across the season.

Financial difficulties in the final months of that season cast a long shadow over the next. The 2017-18 campaign proved devastating. New head coach Kristaps Valters could rely on only three experienced players—Kaufmanis, Viktors Iļjins, and Edmunds Elksnis—while the rest of the roster was overwhelmingly young. The team finished in last place in the Latvian Basketball League and failed to qualify for the Baltic Basketball League playoffs. The club entered a hiatus after that season and has remained inactive since 2018, leaving the city without its professional basketball presence.
