The club originated as Princips, one of the founding teams of the Latvian Basketball League in 1992, winning bronze in its first season. It later became LainERS, introducing the first American legionary Mikki Jackson, cheerleader shows, and game programmes to the Latvian league. LainERS won bronze in 1994 and reached the semi-finals in 1998. In 2001, the club was renamed Barons, beginning a revival that led to bronze in 2004 and consecutive second-place finishes in the following two years. Barons also introduced the first players' cards, with a third issue released in January 2007. In the 2008 season, Barons/O!Karte won the Latvian championship and the FIBA EuroCup, and reached the Baltic Basketball League final, losing to Kalev/Cramo. The club won the Latvian championship again in 2010. During the 2011–2012 season, Barons played in the LBL second division, finishing first, and returned to the top division the next season as Barons Kvartāls. In September 2017, the club announced it would not participate in the LBL further due to financial reasons.
