My Scene Goes Hollywood: The Movie is a 2005 American animated romantic comedy film based on Mattel's My Scene dolls. It features Barbie and Lindsay Lohan, who plays herself, and was directed by Eric Fogel. The film gained renewed attention in 2017 due to Harvey Weinstein's involvement as a voice actor.
Plot
The My Scene girls attend high school in Manhattan and learn that a teen spy movie called Spy Society is being filmed there, starring Lindsay Lohan as Laural St. Clair and Ryan Ridley as her love interest. Barbie, Chelsea, Madison, Nolee and Delancey go to watch the filming and decide to sneak onto the set by pretending to be extras. As extras, they discover the hard work involved, including early call times and many takes; Chelsea is assigned unpleasant tasks like towel girl and cleaning up after horses.
The girls imagine becoming best friends with Lindsay Lohan, who turns out to be friendly and actually befriends them. When an actress is injured and cannot play her part, Madison is called in to replace her as the female villain with only five speaking lines. Fame goes to Madison's head: she believes she is dating Ryan, and tabloids call her Ryan's Mystery Girl. At a party with Ryan and Lindsay, Madison is rude to her friends and pretends not to know them, causing her friends to become angry and avoid her.
Reception
My Scene Goes Hollywood: The Movie earned negative reviews. Lacey Worrell of DVDTalk criticized the plot as paper-thin and noted the frequent mention of Lindsay Lohan, whose personal life had overshadowed her acting. Worrell described the film as revolving around a clichéd friends-forever theme and called the acting wooden. She concluded that the DVD presentation was vapid and unrealistic, lacking substance.
