Plot

At their annual camp retreat, the teens and staff of Good Friends Church Camp are unaware of the horror that awaits. Near the campgrounds in an old abandoned log home, an undead Lumber Jack has arisen. Armed with axes, a saw, and a rolling griddle with giant flapjacks, he stalks and kills the teens, using their blood for syrup to eat with his meal. Dr. Peter Shirtcliff tries to warn head park ranger LuAnn Potts of the terror, but she does not believe him, especially when he mentions the award-winning Instant Pancakes from J.T. Jeppson. Shirtcliff leaves to save the campers while LuAnn, after looking through old newspaper articles and police reports, begins to believe, but is later attacked by the Lumberjack Man, who retreats when she throws syrup at him. Back at the camp, campers and staff are killed until only Faith, Reggie, the cook, and counselor Doug remain. Doug abandons them and dies. Shirtcliff arrives and reveals the truth: in 1892, Jeppson killed Nehemiah Easterday by drowning him in his own syrup after Easterday refused to share his family's secret pancake recipe, turning Easterday into a vengeful monster. The trio fights Easterday, who has finished his breakfast and grown stronger. Faith, a descendant of Jeppson, covers herself with syrup and taunts Easterday, eventually vanquishing him. The survivors hitch a ride to town.

Release

Before the movie came out, a viral marketing effort sent out file boxes supposedly from the Shirtcliff Wellness Center, marked classified by Dr. Peter Shirtcliff. Each box held pancake batter, a torn shirt cloth, a trophy from a 1919 flapjack festival, a newspaper clipping about a 1919 mass murder, and promotional photos. The film had its Los Angeles premiere on August 11, 2015, and hit theaters on October 16, 2015.
