Plot
Scott, a high school student, gains popularity through his soccer skills and hopes to earn an athletic scholarship, despite also having artistic talent. After a leg injury threatens his playing career, he continues to focus on soccer. His best friend Jules has romantic feelings for him, but Scott avoids a relationship to preserve their friendship. Bess, a shy student who recognizes Scott's artistic side, becomes romantically interested in him, while her classmate Jeffrey pursues her without reciprocation. An unknown stalker begins exhibiting disturbing behavior, escalating to violence when a teacher who flirted with Scott is attacked and seriously injured, and Jules is nearly killed at a party. Scott suspects Bess but cannot prove it. Later, Scott accidentally hits Bess's co-worker Andie with his car and offers to take her home, but Andie knocks him out and traps him in her basement. After awakening, Scott tries to escape while Andie aggravates his leg injury. Andie kills her boss David when he arrives. Scott manages to crawl out of the basement despite further injuries. Bess visits and discovers Scott and David's body, prompting Andie to attack her. Jeffrey arrives and helps overpower Andie, and Scott kicks her into the basement, knocking her out. Unable to play soccer due to his injuries, Scott applies to art school and begins a relationship with Jules, while Bess and Jeffrey start their own relationship. Andie, visited by her attorney Mr. Graham, admits her killings began at an early age and warns she will not remain in custody long.
Critical reception
Scott Weinberg of Fearnet praised the acting of the three leads but criticized the film's premise and script as derivative, noting Mallhi's previous work on The Roommate, and stated that the film lacks character, suspense, intensity, or surprises. Paul Lê of Bloody Disgusting wrote that Crush is more perceptive than its familiar pitch suggests. William Harrison of DVD Talk described the film as an entertaining thriller with solid direction and good acting.
