Brisbane
Kemp made his first grade debut for the Broncos in round 10 of the 2007 NRL season against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, scoring a 75-metre try that was voted the third best of the 2007 NRL season by NRL.com. In 2008 he started strongly with four tries in his first three games and played 24 games for the club. In round 12 he scored four tries against the Parramatta Eels, placing him equal second on most tries scored in a game for the club, hours after announcing he would join the New Zealand Warriors for 2009. When not in first grade, he played for the Norths Devils in the Queensland Cup. Kemp was Brisbane's top try-scorer in 2008 and was named the club's rookie of the year.
Second stint with Brisbane
After being let out of the final year of his Warriors deal early, Kemp signed again with the Brisbane Broncos for the 2010 NRL season on 16 September 2009. An injury kept him from earning a regular first grade spot. In round 1 of 2010, he crossed for the winning try against the North Queensland Cowboys, making the final score 30-24. He then played for the Wynnum Manly Seagulls in the 2011 Queensland Cup and moved to the Australian Rugby Union in April 2011.
