Lore & Background
Wiley grew up in Atlanta's Morningside neighborhood, playing multiple sports before focusing on soccer. At 11, he earned a spot in Atlanta United's U-12 academy. He served as a ball boy during the 2018 MLS Cup final. He made his professional debut with Atlanta United 2 in July 2020. He signed a homegrown contract with Atlanta United on January 18, 2022, and made his MLS debut on February 27, 2022, a 3–0 loss to Sporting Kansas City. He finished the 2022 season with 22 MLS appearances (including playoffs). In 2023, he scored twice and assisted once in a week three win over Charlotte FC, becoming the fifth-youngest player to contribute to three goals in a single MLS game. He ended the 2023 season with four goals in 32 MLS regular-season appearances. Chelsea signed him on July 22, 2024, for £8.5 million. He was loaned to Strasbourg for the 2024–25 season, then recalled and loaned to Watford in January 2025.
In Their Own Story
The 2023 season marked Wiley's transition from promising prospect to league standout. After his historic three-goal contribution game in week three, he added a third goal of the campaign in a 5–1 win over Portland. Despite finishing with four goals in 33 MLS appearances as Atlanta was eliminated by Columbus in the playoffs, analysts noted his high upside alongside flaws in defensive decision-making. His trajectory led to a massive transfer on July 22, 2024, when Chelsea announced his signing for approximately £8.5 million on a six-year contract. Following his move, he was immediately loaned to Strasbourg on August 11, 2024, making his competitive debut in a 1–1 draw with Montpellier before later moving to Watford.
