History

The club was founded in 1997 and initially competed in the Segunda División de México. After six seasons, it won the Clausura 2003 championship and then defeated Coras de Tepic in the promotion final to reach the Primera División 'A'. The team was relegated in the Clausura 2004. Promotion was achieved again in 2005 by winning the Segunda División final against Pumas Naucalpan on penalties after a 4–4 aggregate draw.

The club's stint in the Primera División 'A' ended in 2006 when the franchise was sold and relocated to Villahermosa, Tabasco, becoming Guerreros de Tabasco. In 2013, a new team with the same name, Club de Fútbol Delfines Atlético Coatzacoalcos, won the Segunda División in 2014 and earned promotion to the newly formed Liga de Ascenso de México. However, it was replaced by Coras de Tepic after failing to meet FMF standards. The club was re-founded in 2024 as Deportivo Delfines de Coatzacoalcos and entered the Tercera División de México.

In the 2025–26 season, it was promoted to the Segunda División after reaching the zone finals in the Tercera División and also won the Liga TDP champions trophy.
