Background
He arrived from Cremonese in 1955 and debuted against Inter on 20 March. Only 1.69 m tall, he was a strong, fair full-back and a fine header of the ball, which let him play many years as a sweeper. His nickname came on 8 January 1961 against Sampdoria: injured with no substitutes left, he played on and headed the winning goal from a corner.
