Concept and production

For Dans ma main, Blais dove into synth and electronic textures, a direction sparked by his work with CFCF on Cascades. He told Red Bull Music Academy that while he never wants to lose touch with the piano, modern tools offer too many sound and texture possibilities to ignore. Exclaim! observed that his Ableton Live work mostly processes acoustic piano sounds to expand its range. Blais again worked with producer Bufflo, and brought in Marc-André Mignault on "Igloo" and the title track.

Critical reception

Exclaim! gave the album a 9/10, describing it as another intimate masterpiece. CBC's Ariane Cipriani called it an invitation to ask one's hand in a frantic world, with each track revealing a different palette of sounds alternating between tension and relaxation.
