Star City 2040

"Star City 2040" is the sixteenth episode of the seventh season of the television series *Arrow*, which is based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow and exists within the Arrowverse continuity. The episode was written by showrunner Beth Schwartz and Oscar Balderrama, and directed by James Bamford. It aired on The CW in the United States on March 18, 2019, drawing 1.60 million viewers.

The story unfolds primarily in the future, following Oliver Queen's children, Mia Smoak and William Clayton, as they undertake a dangerous mission into the Glades. The episode features Stephen Amell as Oliver, alongside principal cast members Emily Bett Rickards, Rick Gonzalez, Juliana Harkavy, and Colton Haynes. Katherine McNamara and Ben Lewis appear as guest stars, portraying Mia and William.

In 2019, Felicity Smoak gives birth to Mia, who is raised in secrecy away from Star City in Bloomfield. Trained by Nyssa al Ghul throughout her childhood and into adulthood, Mia eventually leaves her training, but does not defeat Nyssa. Living alone with Felicity, Mia discovers a hidden room where her mother continues to operate as a vigilante. Angry that Felicity kept this secret, Mia argues with her, recounting how she never left the house, never attended school, and never lived in a city. She then escapes to Star City, leaving a note, and becomes a cage fighter under the alias "Blackstar." Her hatred for vigilantes stems from her belief that they ruined Star City.

In 2040, William and Mia follow Felicity's coordinates to Galaxy One headquarters. They climb the wall surrounding the Glades and attempt to infiltrate the building, but are saved by Connor Hawke, an agent of Knightwatch. He tells them bombs may be hidden in sublevels accessed by an undisclosed elevator, requiring the DNA of Galaxy One head Keven Dale. Meanwhile, Dinah Drake, Roy Harper, and Zoe Ramirez discover that Eden Corps, thought extinct, uses Galaxy One as a front and paid the Star City Police Department to fake Felicity's death. Rene Ramirez confronts them, revealing Galaxy One plans to blow up Star City to rebuild it like the Glades, claiming the city will be evacuated.

Mia, William, and Connor enter the sublevels and find Felicity imprisoned. She says the building houses the bombs and that she was meant to be the scapegoat.
