Lore & Background

Reader's Guide
Wraith was part of the original Apex Legends roster alongside Bangalore, Bloodhound, Caustic, Gibraltar, Lifeline, Mirage and Pathfinder. Narrative lead Mohammad Alavi and designer Griffin Dean said she was redesigned repeatedly, because a direct adaptation of the Phase Shift ability from Titanfall 2 was hard for opposing players to read in a battle royale. Kotaku's Joshua Rivera singled out the mystery around Wraith and Bloodhound as one of the game's more effective early hooks, since their costumes hinted at a link to Titanfall's Pilot technology without confirming it.
