Legend of the Dragon is a 39-episode animated series produced by BKN International for CBBC. The story centers on Ang, known as the Golden Dragon, who defends the twelve zodiac temples from his twin sister, Ling, the Shadow Dragon.
The series begins with the previous Golden Dragon passing into the afterlife. Seventeen-year-old fraternal twins Ang and Ling Leung, both born in the Year of the Dragon, are next in line to receive the Golden Dragon power band and protect the mortal world from evil. Ang doubts he will be chosen, since Ling is the superior fighter at the Dragon Dojo, and Ling is confident she will be selected. However, when Master Chin Ho calls upon the Golden Dragon’s power to choose its successor, it picks Ang. Humiliated and enraged, Ling storms out and is seduced by the dark magic of the Shadow Dragon. From that point, Ang must fight his own sister.
In the season one finale, “Double Double,” the revived Emperor of the Darkest Yin overwhelms Ling with greater shadow magic and orders her to seize the Golden Dragon’s power band. Master Chin reveals that the only way she can claim it is by killing Ang. Horrified, Ling breaks free of the darkness, unable to harm her twin. Impressed, Chin explains it was all a test, allowing Ling to follow her true path. As Ang’s twin, she can now also become a Golden Dragon. Chin merges the positive and negative energies of both power bands, granting Ang and Ling enhanced dragon firepower and making them twice as strong when they work together.
Season two opens with Ling reformed and fighting alongside her brother as a Golden Dragon. Together with Chin and the guardians of the Tiger and Monkey temples, they aim to stop the Zodiac Master and the Emperor of the Darkest Yin. The Emperor attacks and disintegrates the Temple of the Golden Dragons, leaving Ang and Ling’s power bands nearly powerless. Chin suggests they travel to the long-lost Temple of the Shadow Dragon to recharge using its vast negative energy. Ling, having been exposed to the Shadow Dragon’s evil for so long, is tempted by the temple’s influence, but with Chin’s wisdom, she and Ang recharge safely. Elsewhere, the Emperor releases his younger sister, Yin Wi, the Guardian of the Shadow Rat, imprisoned a thousand years ago by a previous Golden Dragon.

The series explores themes of sibling rivalry, redemption, and the balance of yang and yin energies.
