Reader's Guide
Tooned served as a promotional and entertainment vehicle for McLaren, blending real Formula One personalities with animated comedy. Its significance lies in its unique format—short episodes aired before races—and its ability to engage fans with inside jokes about the team and drivers. The series expanded into branded content with Mobil 1, producing two series explaining the history of oil and lubricants. The show's legacy includes its availability on McLaren's YouTube channel and the Sky Sports F1 website, and its DVD release by Abbey Home Media in 2012. The series reflects McLaren's marketing strategy to humanize its drivers and engineering staff through humor and animation.
