The conflict ends when Gattler and Aldebaran use a polar ice-melting weapon to melt Earth's polar ice caps, causing a massive tsunami that floods the planet and kills millions. Blue Fixer is helpless. Marin, the Blue Fixers, Gattler, and Aphrodia realize that after the flood Earth resembles S-1 because it is the same planet: the Aldebaran Army and Marin accidentally traveled back in time to S-1's ancient past (2100s Earth). In the film's canonical ending, Aphrodia shoots Gattler before collapsing and being carried by Marin; the unfinished TV series outline is speculative and not canon. Baldios destroys the Argor, but nuclear missiles are not activated and Raita survives. Marin confronts Gattler while the rest of the crew are not shown waiting underground with survivors during that confrontation. The Earthlings survive and will evolve into S-1 civilization, forming a closed loop.

Space Warrior Baldios is regarded as a popular cult classic worldwide and is universally considered one of the best works of the super robot mecha genre. Its significance lies in its ambitious time-loop narrative, where the destruction of Earth by the antagonists inadvertently creates the very civilization they came from. The series was cancelled before completion, but the 1981 film provided a definitive conclusion, making it a notable example of a franchise rescued by a theatrical release. The series was released in Italy as Baldios - Il Guerriero dello Spazio and in Spain as Los guerreros del espacio. In video games, Baldios debuted in the Super Robot Wars franchise with 2008's Super Robot Wars Z for PlayStation 2, appearing in its two-part sequel and the 2015 mobile game Super Robot Wars X-Ω. For these appearances, Marin was voiced by Takumi Yamazaki, as original voice actor Kaneto Shiozawa had died in 2000.
