Elena and the Secret of Avalor

Synopsis

In Avalor, Crown Princess Elena shows her friend Naomi the broken wand of the witch Shuriki, recounting how Princess Sofia saved her and the kingdom. While at school in Enchancia, Sofia sees a vision of Shuriki killing Elena's parents, King Raul and Queen Lucia, when her amulet summons her to the castle's secret library. A book there transforms into the wizard Alacazar, who explains that Elena originally owned the amulet; it saved her by pulling her inside when Shuriki attacked. Alacazar searched 41 years for a special princess, turning himself into a book and placing the amulet in Enchancian Castle. Sofia agrees to help and convinces her family to vacation in Avalor under the guise of a trade agreement. Upon arrival, Sofia is horrified to learn they will meet Shuriki and notices the crowds are unhappy. Winged jaguars called jaquins assist Sofia after she explains her mission, taking her to Alacazar's old house to meet his grandson Mateo. He summons the spirit guide Zuzo, who instructs Sofia to steal Shuriki's wand, which she does during a dance. Sofia, Mateo, and the jaquins go to the Maruvian temple, where she transforms into a mermaid and places her amulet and the wand on an underwater statue, releasing Elena. Despite the group's objections, Elena insists on confronting Shuriki alone with the wand.
