Batwoman is an American superhero television series developed by Caroline Dries for The CW, based on the DC Comics character of the same name and part of the Arrowverse franchise. The series premiered on October 6, 2019, and ran for three seasons until its cancellation on April 29, 2022, following the conclusion of its third season on March 2, 2022.

The first season follows Kate Kane, the cousin of vigilante Bruce Wayne, who becomes Batwoman after his disappearance. Kate discovers that her cousin was Batman and uses her military skills to fight crime, aided by Luke Fox and her stepsister Mary Hamilton. She clashes with her father Jacob Kane's security firm, the Crows, and the Wonderland Gang led by Alice, who is revealed to be Kate's fraternal twin sister Beth, presumed dead after a car accident.
The second and third seasons focus on Ryan Wilder, a former convict who finds the Batsuit after Kate's supposed death in a plane crash. Ryan takes up the mantle to avenge her mother's death, while Alice explores her past connections to Ocean and Safiyah Sohail. The False Face Society, led by Black Mask, kidnaps Kate and brainwashes her into believing she is his daughter Circe. After Ryan and Alice defeat Black Mask, Kate leaves Gotham. In the third season, Ryan and Luke hunt for missing Batman villain trophies, with Alice as a consultant. Ryan discovers her biological mother is Jada Jet, and faces her half-brother Marquis, who was affected by the Joker.
