Beyond Vaudeville
A public-access talk show defined by awkwardness and puppetry.
Beyond Vaudeville is a New York City public-access television talk/variety show that aired from 1986 to 1996. Hosted by the fidgety Frank Hope (Rich Brown) alongside the perpetually angry David Greene, the program featured amateur performers, nostalgic celebrities, and puppets that often provoked Greene. The show's anti-humor derived from its awkwardness and oddness, and it later evolved into Oddville, MTV on cable. It is credited with discovering Suzanne Muldowney, known as The Underdog Lady.
