Plot
Bear lives in the Big Blue House where he cares for friends Ojo, Tutter, Treelo, otters Pip and Pop, and storyteller Shadow. Their adventures involve solving problems, sharing, cooperating, and developing social skills. Each episode opens with a welcome song, Bear detecting a scent, and character appearances. Episodes focus on a theme, such as sleep or Thanksgiving, and include songs, jokes, and a lesson. Shadow narrates a shadow-puppet segment. Bear ends by singing the goodbye song with Luna.
Characters
Bear, performed by Noel MacNeal, is the large, kind protagonist who cares for the other characters. Ojo, performed by Vicki Eibner, is a curious red bear cub. Tutter, performed by Peter Linz, is a small blue mouse who loves cheese and lives in a kitchen mousehole. Treelo, performed by Tyler Bunch, is a playful white, blue, and green lemur. Pip and Pop, performed by Peter Linz and Tyler Bunch, are purple otter twins living by the otter pond. Ray the Sun, operated by Peter Linz and voiced by Geoffrey Holder, appears from Season 2. Shadow, performed by Peter Linz and voiced by Tara Mooney, is a laughing shadow girl. Luna the Moon, operated by Peter Linz and voiced by Lynne Thigpen, sings the goodbye song with Bear. Grandma Flutter, performed by Alice Dinnean (1997–1998) and Vicki Eibner (1998–2003), is Tutter's grandmother.
