Plot

In the 22nd century, science and technology had advanced beyond ethical bounds, leading most of mankind to reverse course. Global dictatorships violated the United Nations' Bioethics Treaty by secretly stockpiling arms, provoking an attack on an oblivious America. Retaliation with augmented nuclear weaponry had unforeseen effects, infecting most survivors in the Western Hemisphere and turning them into ravenous beasts that feed on the remaining population. Pockets of humanity endure.

Cast changes

Jim Lecter, played by Cal Nguyen, is the only character to appear in every episode from the pilot through season 2, and appears sporadically in season 3. Before the first season, an initial cast was partially filmed, but due to a copyright change from original writer Kelsi Swensen to Cal Nguyen, the cast was entirely replaced except for Nguyen himself. Season 1 composer Amber Masterson, who originally played Kat Finch, made a guest appearance as a different character in the season 1 finale.

In season 2, most of the cast other than Nguyen and Deven Skye (Baldwin) remained, while new main characters were created. The crew also changed considerably; season 1 had only two members, Cal Nguyen and Tim Sabuco, who tripled up duties. For season 3, production underway as of August 2, 2017, Hollywood veteran Shawn Stevens joined as lead character Father John, and nearly all past season actors are no longer on the show except Oscar Sanchez. On August 18, 2017, Larry Clifton was cast to replace Bill Gillane as Ben Lott. Season 3 is set for release in 2018 on Amazon Video.
