Overview
The series follows wealthy prepper Ian Ross and his wife Jenna, who own a mansion and homesteading compound in the Rocky Mountains above Oakwood. After a nuclear attack on Los Angeles and the collapse of the power grid, the compound is secured by former special forces soldiers recruited by Ian, led by Jeff Eriksson and his wife Tara. Their adopted daughter Gracie experiences violent visions of the future. The Rosses and their invited guests operate a homesteading operation for food and solar electricity, while a hundred uninvited refugees gather outside the gates. City official Blake Masterson and the SWAT team attempt to seize the Homestead, and Ian is shot while trying to defuse the situation. Threats from outsiders continue, and Jenna must decide how far her faith will allow her to go.

Production
The Homestead movie served as the series' pilot. Only the initial two episodes were completed before Utah weather halted production. After the film earned over $20 million in a limited theatrical run, Angel Studios greenlit the rest of season one and a second season. The remaining season one episodes were shot in summer 2025, with season two production starting in November 2025. The show is filmed on an actual homestead property in Bountiful, Utah, owned by Jason Orvis, who co-wrote the Black Autumn books with retired Green Beret Jeff Kirkham. The real house and land are used for most scenes. In November 2025, Angel Studios bought the intellectual property rights to Homestead from Orvis.
Release
The first two episodes were released on the Angel streaming platform alongside the theatrical debut of the film. After the rest of season 1 was completed, episode 3 premiered on November 26, 2025, with weekly releases concluding with the season finale on December 25, 2025. Prior to the release of the remainder of season 1, the Homestead film and series had been watched on the Angel app for more than 81 million minutes, and over a quarter million people had subscribed to the platform to watch the show.
