Formation and touring

Formed in January 2001 and based in Asbury Park, deSoL built their reputation by touring heavily along the east coast, which landed them a contract with Curb Records. They became a fixture as a supporting act on major tours, most notably opening for R.E.M. at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City. Over time, they shared bills with Blues Traveler, Los Lonely Boys, Ozomatli, Cypress Hill, Arrested Development, and Widespread Panic. In 2005, a four-month tour with the Legendary Wailers saw them playing six nights a week to sold-out crowds, sharpening their live show and boosting their profile both nationally and internationally.

They also appeared at festivals like Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, All Good, South by Southwest, Langerado, and Nashville River Stages. In the second half of 2006, the band performed for American troops on an Armed Forces Entertainment tour, visiting bases in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Djibouti. Over their career, deSoL put out four albums. Their songs "Karma," "Blanco y Negro," "Sing it All Night," and "On My Way" got radio play, and their rendition of "Little Drummer Boy" climbed into the top three on the charts, still getting airplay every December.

Following years of personal changes, the core members decided to take a break for a while to focus on life and other pursuits.
