History
Ben Knox Miller and Jeffrey Prystowsky first crossed paths while hosting an overnight jazz show on Brown University’s WBRU. Their friendship deepened on the diamond: Prystowsky, who taught baseball history at a local high school, also player-managed a wood-bat team called the Providence Grays, and Miller joined him as a teammate. The band still performs that song live, ending it with a cell phone trick that creates a haunting feedback loop the audience helps produce. The first band to take them on tour was Surprise Me Mr. Davis, a side project of the Barr Brothers.
