History
Beloved was formed in the fall of 1999 by students who attended East Forsyth High School in Kernersville, North Carolina from 1996 to 2000. They quickly gained popularity playing local shows in the Kernersville area. In 2000, the band independently released their first album, ...And So It Goes, and toured with groups such as Underoath, Luti-Kriss/Norma Jean, and Cool Hand Luke, including a performance at the Cornerstone Festival. In spring 2001, Vindicated Records took notice and released their next release, The Running, later that year. Prior to that release, the band made a limited online pre-release available that included rough studio versions of "The Blue Period" and "Into Your Arms"; the latter track was not included on the Vindicated Records version and was not commercially released until the second re-release by Solid State Records. In 2002, Beloved was in the process of signing with Takehold Records, but the label's owner, Chad Johnson, was also negotiating its sale to Tooth & Nail Records. Ultimately, Takehold was sold to Tooth & Nail, and Beloved signed with Tooth & Nail's Solid State Records division, which re-released The Running for their Cornerstone performance in summer 2002. Later that year, while on tour with Luti-Kriss/Norma Jean, they recorded the limited EP One Night Split, with only a handful of CD-R copies handed out to fans at subsequent tour stops. The following year, the band recorded their full-length album Failure On with producer GGGarth. They supported it with extensive touring and another re-release of The Running in 2004 that included the bonus track "Into Your Arms". Their farewell show took place in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on January 14, 2005, featuring Underoath, Classic Case, Glass Casket, and a surprise appearance by Norma Jean. Footage from that show was released as a DVD titled Kiss it Goodbye. Former members later played in Classic Case, Dead Poetic, and The Almost.
