Electra Woman and Dyna Girl
A 1976 superhero series from Sid and Marty Krofft.
Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, a live-action superhero show for children, debuted in 1976. Sid and Marty Krofft created it, and it ran for one season of 16 episodes as part of the larger series *The Krofft Supershow*. When later syndicated as part of the "Krofft Super Stars" package and released on home video, the original 12-minute segments were combined into eight longer episodes.
The story follows two reporters for *Newsmaker Magazine*—Lori and Judy, whose last names are never given—who secretly fight crime as the caped superhero Electra Woman (played by Deidre Hall) and her teen sidekick Dyna Girl (Judy Strangis). In each episode, they change into bright spandex costumes in a flash of light called an "Electra-Change," drive the "ElectraCar," and use various high-tech gadgets to stop a rotating cast of supervillains. They are helped by scientist Frank Heflin (Norman Alden), who stays at their "ElectraBase," operates the powerful "CrimeScope" computer, and keeps in touch through their "ElectraComs."
The main characters include Lori/Electra Woman (Deidre Hall), Judy/Dyna Girl (Judy Strangis), Professor Frank Heflin (Norman Alden), and narrator Marvin Miller. The villains—called "ElectraEnemies"—include The Sorcerer (Michael Constantine) with Miss Dazzle (Susan Lanier); the Empress of Evil (Claudette Nevins) with Lucretia (Jacquelyn Hyde); Ali Baba (Malachi Throne) with the Genie (Sid Haig); Glitter Rock (John Mark Robinson) with Side Man (Jeff David); the Spider-Lady (Tiffany Bolling) with Leggs (Robert Sutton) and Spinner (Bruce Fischer); and the Pharaoh (Peter Mark Richman) with Cleopatra (Jane Elliot).
The ElectraComs are bulky wrist devices worn by the heroes. They work as two-way radios with video and have many special functions, often used to escape traps.
