Plot

Trevor Hale is good-looking, clever, and sharp, and he claims to be Cupid, the ancient god of love. This belief gets him committed to a psychiatric hospital, where he meets Dr. Claire Allen, an expert on romance. Trevor explains that Zeus took away his divine abilities and banished him from Olympus for being arrogant. To regain his godhood, he must pair up 100 couples in true love, but without his magical arrows. Claire is skeptical, yet she takes a professional risk by signing him out and taking charge of his actions. Trevor becomes a bartender and often interrupts Claire’s group therapy, all while working to spark romantic connections. He stays celibate, convinced that sleeping with a human would trap him on Earth permanently.

Production

In an Entertainment Weekly article from December 2004, creator Rob Thomas mentioned that the show would have ended with Trevor and Claire becoming Trevor's 100th match, without revealing whether Trevor really was Cupid. Rob Thomas served as creator, executive producer, and supervising producer. Other executive producers included Scott Winant, Joe Voci, Scott Sanders, Jeff Reno, and Ron Osborn. Hart Hanson was co-executive producer, and W.G. "Snuffy" Walden composed the music.
