Plot

Rex Coen, an American veteran, visits a bank to flirt with a teller when armed robbers storm in. With help from his subconscious, which he perceives as an external entity, Rex kills the robbers and saves everyone except employee Angela, who is accidentally shot when Rex fires at a robber. Despite his heroics, Rex is tried for Angela's death and accepts a plea deal for eight years in prison. After media harassment upon release, he vacations to Finland, where a conspicuous couple kidnaps him at the airport.

He awakens with one leg amputated and hands bound to the ceiling. Working with his subconscious, he realizes he is held by a cannibal family: the father, mother, uncle, daughter Alia, youngest brother Olaf, monstrously deformed eldest brother Pati, and twin brothers who almost always wear masks. Late one night, Rex takes Olaf hostage and tries to convince Alia to let him go. The family is alerted, and as Rex threatens to kill Olaf, his strength fails and he drops the child.

The parents take Olaf to the hospital; Alia tends to Rex, confessing she likes him and explaining that her family, especially Pati, kidnaps American tourists to eat. Alia, an outcast for her non-violent ways, is forced to be Pati's feeder. She gives Rex a knife. When the family returns, Rex kills the uncle with the knife and escapes.

He kills the father and both twins with a nailgun while Alia strangles her mother. Pati emerges, and in the struggle Rex kills him with the sharp bone of his own amputated leg, found in the family fridge.
